Michelle Obama Says Black Girls Rock!

BET's Black Girls Rock taped last night in New Jersey at NJPAC Prudential Hall and First Lady Michelle Obama was on hand to provide an inspirational word to the night's honorees.

“No matter who you are, no matter where you come from, you are beautiful... I am so proud of you. My husband, your president, is so proud f you.” Mrs. Obama said.

The Black Girls Rock event was founded by Beverly Bond , who believes "we all rock but black girls don't hear it enough" to show young black girls and women positive images of themselves. The annual awards show recognizes prominent black female entrepreneurs and go-getters in various fields, like entertainment, medicine and education.

Black Girls Rock is also a non profit focused on empowering and mentoring young women of color.

The 2015 event honorees are Jada Pinket Smith, Cicely Tyson, Ava DuVernay, Erykah Badu, Dr. Helene D. Gayle and Nadia Lopez.
